The Voting Section met yesterday with lawyers for Paterson New Jersey councilman Rigo Rodriguez.  They want the Voting Section to look into claims of voter intimidation and discrimination.  The basis for this claim is that the Sheriff Jerry Speziale conducted an investigation into violations of state election law during a recount and improperly contacted candidates and voters as part of the investigation.  One of the allegations involve the collection of illegal messenger absentee ballots which made the difference in the election.  Messenger ballots swung the election to Rodriguez and Speziale conducted an investigation into the matter.  Recall New Jersey has a problem with the illegal collection of messenger ballots.  No word on whether Sheriff Speziale brandished a nightstick.
