New York defends failing to send military ballots in time
New York claims no big deal. Looks like military ballots will be received a few days after the election - provided they are cast by November 1, something that is increasingly unlikely. It takes at least 21 days for a military ballot to get to the solider. And if it arrives with less than a week to go, solders can't use the automatic express mail return guarantee. That's why it is essential for ballots to go out 45 days before an election, not 30 days with an extension of time after the election.
